WEEK TWO

Socrates on the Two Types of Pleasure - (3819)

There are two types of pleasures, believe it or not. Socrates our good old friend spoke about this. He never wrote anything down curiously.

We have all experienced this before, but have not perhaps heard it formally expressed as such. I actually think it is of benefit to receive this teaching as an official thing. Because then one knows that one can lift one's sight from one pleasure type to the other, and know confidently which type is more real.

There is higher pleasure, and there is lower pleasure. Socrates said that there are pleasures that have a higher value than others. Good point - quite true. Obviously the higher pleasure has a greater value than the lower. Easy - makes sense. [...for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure." - Philippians 2 verse 13]

The distinguishing element between higher pleasure and lower pleasure is "quality" and "quantity".

The lower pleasures are about quantity [orgasm] and the higher are about quality [transmutation].

The lower pleasure type is about the egos of: greed, gluttony, lust, laziness, alcohol etc. that are all about quantity, they don't stop, and it is about getting more, and more and more.

Socrates said something remarkable here, he said that lower pleasure is not really pleasure but only the absence of pain. He says that lower pleasure feels pleasurable in contrast to pain. Makes sense, say we are hungry and we feel hunger pains, when we eat, the hunger pains go away, we then think that the going away of the hunger pain is pleasure. So he says lower pleasure is always that which satisfies some kind of pain.

This is lust really is. Lust is a manifestation and a compensation for pain and lack that one feels within themselves psychologically. That is why any person who suffers from the ego of lust will always try to gratify themselves by any means necessary.

So lower pleasure is all about the survival of ego in us.

The higher pleasure type is about understanding, meditating, self-discovery, reading, philosophy, music, prayer, good conversation, spiritual activities etc.

Higher pleasure is about union with the divine Being in you through renewing of one's mind.

Everything born into existence strives for happiness. True happiness is a form of awareness that embraces the superlative nature of our Being.  It is about the quality of our energy, the essence of reality. And this is certainly difficult to acquire. You have to use a lot of fruits to derive a small essence.

Quality is very different to quantity. So both pleasures exist, with one being realer, more authentic in that it is more independent and stands by itself, i.e. does not depend on pain. Now we can go for that pleasure which is the higher one and is not egoic. Well this is what we are doing anyway.

The Ethers Part 2 - (3562)

Introduction

When talking about the tattwas we have no other recourse but to resort to the Vedic texts and Hindu philosophy and of course Master Samael's works.

The Vedic texts say that the Cosmic Mother in her capacity to give to creation has a root sound hreem, and within that sound are the three shaktis or power of the Divine Mother. They are known as iccha shakti (tamas - will), jnana shakti (sattva - intelligence) and kriya shakti (rayas - action). All that is in creation is made from these three powers. These three powers or qualities are also the three Gunas.

Tattwa/Tattva

Tattwa or Tattva is a Sanskrit term meaning element or principle or reality. Master Samael says that the tattwas are the vibrations and or principles of the four Elements.

They also say that there are actually 25 tattwas or elements that make up the world. The first five tattwas are the known as the Maha Tattwas. These are Akasa (ether), Vayu (air), Tejas (fire), Apas (water) and Prithvi (earth).

However, before these elements there are what they call the subtle elements.

There are five: sound, touch, taste, form and odour, and are furthermore known as the Tanmatras.

The subtle element of sound is the first one to manifest from hreem the root sound of the Cosmic Mother.

From the subtle element of sound comes the denser element Akasha known as the Ether. The Akasha or Ether is a vast field of energy that covers the universe and also makes up the universe. When the ether vibrates it produces movement which becomes air, hence the tattwa Vayu (air).

When the different elements of air brush up against each other friction is produced giving rise to heat or fire or the tattwa Tejas. When the heated air condenses liquid or water is formed producing the tattwa Apas. When the water solidifies it produces earth - the tattwa Prithvi.

So behind the dense elements that we have here on the planet Earth are the tattwas. They are the energies and principles behind them. Because really the elements are condensations of principles. Earth, water, fire and air have their unique qualities and they have their own principles from which these qualities come from.

Creation always proceeds from the subtle to the gross. so the elements come from the tattwas. The tattwas are the animating principle or higher reality behind the elements. As Master Samael says control the tattwas control the elements.

Tattwas linked to Senses

The subtle elements (tanmatras) mentioned above are sound, touch, form, taste and odour. Each tattwa has one of these subtle elements as its main quality. The sense organs that we have are according to this teaching present to allow the mind to interact with each tattva.

Akash belongs to sound, touch to air, form to fire, taste to water and odour to earth. Our ears allow us to sense sound, our skin allows us to sense air, our eyes allow us to sense images, our mouth allows us to taste liquids and our nose allows us to smell the earth.

Tattwas in Vibration During the Day

Certainly there is a particular timetable in which the tattwas vibrate more dominantly. Master Samael mentioned the qualities of each tattwa and he basically said that if it is cold and wet then the tattwa of Apas is vibrating. If it is dry and hot then the tattwa of Tejas is vibrating.

In the next few posts I can write about the qualities of each tattwa and explain what the mantra hidden (2nd and 3rd paragraphs) in the text of this post is for.

Kundalini Posts: 1.0) What is Kundalini? - (3453)

Introduction

In our experience as human beings we generally have no idea about what Kundalini is. We don't feel it nor do we perceive it.

If it wasn't for the esoteric teachings we would not have the slightest clue that we have it.

The strangest thing of all though, is Kundalini, this primordial spiritual energy stands as the key to our liberation and also the key to our demise.

To do a bit of self-study on the Kundalini is really helpful for the whole of our spiritual work. Why? Because this topic is central to our spiritual work. The energy of kundalini is our foundation.

I have often found that the reason why we don't ardently and deeply accept something to a active and practical level is because we lack knowledge and understanding of it.

Prize of Occult Anatomy

The prize that rests under the spotlight within our our occult anatomy is the Kundalini. It is the central piece, the unique and central key that unlocks the ignition of the full functioning of our occult anatomy.

Our occult anatomy has been installed so benevolently that all the channels and circuits for this energy to flow are present, awaiting the day that the raw, pure, primordial energy of the Kundalini will flow through them.

Primordial Energy of Creation and the Cosmos

It is really a pure spiritual energy of great potency. It has been taught that it is a cosmic fire. Specifically that that cosmic fire is the raw, primitive, primeval and primordial fire of the cosmos.

There is so much energy abundant in the universe, and all of it has its expression and manifestation.

These manifestations and expressions vary so widely, yet they all have their source in the energy that drove creation and right now as I write and as you read is insufflating creation with energy maintaining it in its slow movement forward. This energy is what the Hindus would call Shakti.

The Kundalini is this energy that drives and maintains creation, in pure form. It is the energy that was there at the first instance in creation. It is the energy of potential that is present in the matrix of the cosmos.

Fire

It is the feminine fire. Fire is everywhere, the Being is fire, the Intimate Christ is fire, the Holy Spirit is fire, the Typhon Baphomet is fire, there is fire in our vital body and fire in our blood and there is fire in our essence. Fire is really that blend of energy and consciousness. However, depending on the part of the Being it may be more energy or more consciousness.

In Hindu philosophy, there is Shiva and Shakti. The masculine and Feminine principles from which creation arose. Shiva is supreme consciousness and Shakti is primordial supreme energy. Shakti actually is Shiva's power, and Shiva is Shakti's intelligence.

The energy of Shakti later condense into matter, making Shakti a participant in all forms of organic and inorganic matter. Shakti is the whole stage of the universe.

The thing though we have Shakti as a gift for our ascent to Olympus the dwelling of the Gods following on from the myth of Prometheus.

Foundational Energetic Base of Spiritual Ascent

Shakti or Kundalini is the energy generator for our spiritual ascent. The aspirant who ascends back to the stars has to have an extraordinarily powerful energetic base of spiritual potential energy converted into dynamic rising energy to help him or her.

Every human being has the Kundalini present in their occult and inner energetic constitution. However, it is dormant. And needs to be awoken and waits patiently for that day. Being dormant it does no harm nor any good really. Well it does some good, but not near as much as if it was awakened.

These teachings given to us by our Innermost are for the liberation of the human soul [Motho, Essence].

Thus, these teachings cannot be understood or psychologically digested by any logic or  reason of  ego, mind, and personality.

Logic and reason are equal to psychological hypnosis.

Inside every living thing there is something called "The Being".

In modern Christian mythology "The Being" is referred to as "The Father".

"The Father" is the seminal point of every Creation and the very mystery of regeneration.

"The Father" inside every living thing is truly "The Being", which, for all lifetimes is always in secret - - and is the secret of Gnosis.

The purpose of our spiritual work is to dissolve the very mind we use to study the esoteric nature of the work.

By learning to observe the  emptiness of breath, we become skillful in comprehending the emptiness of mind itself - - and thus, we are able to dissolve every form in which mind and sensation appears to us as the  Essence of Modimo (Unkulunkulu).

"Gnosis is the esoteric language of our Being! It is a foundation for the clear perception of Reality that a finger cannot point to, or mouth transfer to anyone without the instrument of meditation. A true gnostic is someone who has mastered the art of meditation for himself. A true gnostic is someone who knows how to live with a mind (manas) without habits."

(Only in a mind (manas) without habits can Truth be known from moment-to-moment.)

These teachings given to us by testimony of Modimo (our individual Innermost) are for the esoteric benefit and liberation of the Human Soul [Motho,  Umuntu, the Essence].

Thus, these teachings cannot be understood with intellectual reason, nor can they be digested by logic of our subjective ego, mind, and personality.

Logic and intellectual reasoning are tantamount to psychological hypnosis for the soul.

Everything comes from the Creator, every atom of the cosmos is synthesized inside the bosom of the Creator - - and in modern Christian mythology the Creator Being is referred to as "The Father".

"The Father" is a seminal point from which all created things permeate, He is the very mystery of regeneration.

"The Father", inside every living thing, is truly our inward dweller; which, for all our lifetimes is always in secret - - and is the authentic internal goal of Gnosis itself.

The purpose of our spiritual work is to dissolve karmic imbalances caused by our basic mind from moment-to-moment. We want to know how to perceive reality beyond duality and relativity.

By learning to observe the  emptiness of breath for example, we become skillful in comprehending "Emptiness of Form" - - and thus, in the same skillful manner, are able to dissolve the grasping mind in us.

In that way, our Interior mind is fully liberated from every "Form of Emptiness" upon which sensations appear to be real in the intermediate state.
